The Watertown Commission on Aging was appointed by the City Council in mid 2005 in response to Watertown's participation
in the Carver County Health Partnership's "Community for a Lifetime" initiative Funded by the Minneapolis Foundation.
The Watertown Commission on Aging works to ensure that the community and
surrounding townships are prepared to offer growing numbers of seniors the best possible environment in which to live and retire with
vitality, dignity and safety.
The Watertown Commission on Aging Needs You!
In the past the Watertown Senior Commission, in cooperation with the Mayer Senior Commission, has sponsored a free dinner and
Christmas light tour, free shopping trip to Chaska Target, spring dinner/dance at Mayer Community Center and Bingo. All events
were well attended by residents of both communities and surrounding townships.
These events are welcomed by the residents and will be continued in the future, but the Watertown Commission on Aging
would also like to meet future challenges for senior friendliness, including grocery delivery, crosswalks, transportation
issues, chore services, housing and more.
The Commission on Aging is an advisory body to the Watertown City Council with a maximum of 11 voting members who are at
least 45 years of age. If you are interested in becoming a member, please stop in at City Hall for an application form or
download the application in .pdf format from this web site.
Applications will be reviewed by a sub-committee of the Commission on Aging before making recommendations to the City
Council for approval. If you have any questions, contact Jim Bart at City Hall (955-2681). The Commission on Aging meets at 3:30 p.m.
on the first Wednesday of each month in City Hall at 309 Lewis Ave. S. The public is always invited to attend the Commission on Aging meetings.
