City Council
Home :: City Government :: City Council
We envision a vibrant full-service community that meets the needs of every citizen. The City Council is comprised
of a mayor and four council members. The mayor is elected at-large for a two-year term and the council members are elected at-large for a four-year term.
The City Council is the legislative body for the City of Watertown and therefore exercises the legislative power of the city.
The mayor is the presiding officer of the council and has a vote as a member of the City Council. In addition, the council chooses from its members
an acting-mayor, which serves as presiding officer in the mayor's absence.
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
All meetings are open to the public, except when required by law. Agendas and Minutes to the City Council meeting are published in the
Carver County News and on this site.
